Saddle up, let’s get some real work done.

I recently spoke at KW Lug (Linux User’s Group) about SEO and was very pleasantly received. That’s despite:
- using a windows computer for my demo (my computer is actually dual boot and I run Linux normally, but I don’t have wireless networking working under linux).
- explaining that Google is in fact a for-profit company with for-profit motivations.
- Talking about SEO, which is very maligned in the tech community.

Still, they were very pleasant and seemed to enjoy the presentation. I’ve been asked to speak at Toronto LUG as a result and plan to do that some time in the fall.

In addition to my occassional speaking gigs, I regularly post on various forums on the subject of SEO. I think I’m going to tone that down a bit and start posting here instead.

So - assuming I start to use this site as a regular blogging platform on the subject of SEO, what subjects would you like to talk about?

I think this would be a good idea, the meet ups are nice but not always practical.

I’d like to see you use this site as an example for SEO tips and what you would do to get this site to rank for certain keywords. Maybe show the traffic from the SEs on the keywords.

This would be a nice real world example that wouldn’t give away any secrets about other sites you run. Of course don’t show us everything you.

I live the topics you’ve posted up so far, so here is some off the top of my head:

How to develop links with higher PR sites
How to form content on page with regards to keywords (density)
Targeting multiple keywords
Article Marketing
Making conversions (landing pages)
Adsense/ad words) (and increasing your cashflow)

I appreciate the sharing of knowledge!

Thanks Mat for that list. Some of those subject I’ll be talking about, some I won’t. Here’s why:
- how to develop links with high PR: If you browse my post on history of the search wars you’ll see that I believe that pagerank is mostly depreciated. It’s now about trustrank. I will be talking about how to get higher trustrank links in the future for sure. And those links, because they tend to be old and trusted, generally do have a higher pagerank. So we’ll be delving into how to get ‘better’ high quality links, not just high PR links.
- how to form content on pages/keyword density: I’ll only be talking about onpage stuff in the future briefly. First, I’m no expert on it, secondly I don’t believe keyword density is a huge deal, and finally, link development trumps everything onpage. My rankings are due to link development and very limited onpages stuff (because onpage stuff isn’t trusted by the SE’s). Certainly I’ve never done a keyword density analysis. I just write naturally.
- targetting multiple keywords. I won’t be discussing this specifically, I will be posting about creating content.
- article marketing: Something I’m not an expert on, won’t be discussing in any detail. Again, trust and relevance are the key. I don’t think most article marketing techniques are not overly trusted. In addition (and I will be posting about this) I believe article marketing is now way overdone by the SEO community, so I don’t do it. I don’t want to look like an SEO,or leave SEO footprints. As soon as you’re doing the low hanging fruit stuff that everyone else is, you can be branded an SEO. That’s not good.
- making conversions: I would love a post on that. Except I’m not an expert. Maybe I’ll have to call in a guest poster friend for that one.
- adsense - for sure.

Thanks again for the comments!

Great! Thanks for making your site a dofollow, even if you’re not related!

Hi Admin,

Great to see that you’re going to be regularly posting on here. I’m subscribed.

CdnNick, I remember meeting you @ the SEO Bash in Ottawa. How’s life?
